| Here are some additional photos from the last and final session of the Veterans Disability Benefits Commission in October. Former Commissioner Charles "Butch" Joeckel has been buried at Arlington National Cemetary with full military honors, for those who are interested. Those of us who worked before him will miss him. The Senate is on record as saying that the VDBC will be undergoing other new review hearings at the first part of 2008, presumably January or February coming up soon. The last and final session was a coming together for all of us, one last time, to basically say goodbye. During the session hours, they did nothing more than Edit the final report to Congress. There was no public business conducted. I had planned to do touring around the city, in and out as the schedule moved through it's day. I was there for the final last bow and closing of the doors, which was unexpectedly early for no other reason that they had finished the edits ahead of schedule. I am posting the photo of General Bill Matz one more time as he sent an email to me afterwards: "Dear Sue, Thank you for the nice note. And thanks for your very professional testimony and many comments during our public session meetings these past two years. Your comments have been instrumental in helping us formulate some of our findings and recommendations. I wish you the very best in the future. William Matz Jr. MG, US Army (Retired)" This is now in my own photo collection from the many memories made during the hearings of this historic commission. These photo's show the good relations that had been fostered between me as a VFJ Activist and the Commission authority itself. UPDATE NOTE: THE BOOKBOUND VERSION OF THE VDBC REPORT TO CONGRESS IS NOW IN MOTION ON CAPITOL HILL. I HAVE RECEIVED MY FREE COURTESY COPY AS LEAD ACTIVIST WITH A NOTE FROM THE STAFF. THE COMMISSION PROCESS IS TO RESUME ON CAPITOL HILL IN JANUARY 2008 AT THE START OF THE NEW SESSION.
