I am a vet and have been getting epidural steroid procedures done for nearly 2 years now. Within that 2 year period, my weight has fluctuated within 15 pounds. At my last appointment I was told I would not receive another treatment unless I lost weight. My appointment was 2 months overdue, I was in a lot of pain and tried to discuss it with the doc. The doc would not listen to what I had to say, was very short with me, and kept repeating that I would not get another treatment unless I lost weight. Then while on the table for a treatment, the doc did not let me know (as the doc normally did) when anesthia and steriod needle was going in (the doc was very rough). I was told by a person in the VA that I had no recourse. Now what?

I for one have had an epidural and been
through it and have several nurses who
are cousins in the family. If they are
cutting you off because of weight then
it's for your very own safety as medicine
is practiced at it's very core by size,
age, and weight of the patient. They are
protecting you in the pursuit of good
advice and not trying to hurt you. Lose
the weight if you can.
