Yet another Congressman is attempting
to set up yet another Veterans Commission without a SINGLE licensed medical doctor occupying a single seat. Yes, it's Buffoonland at the Commission-factory of Congress. Veterans are the only medical patient population in the world who are subjected to the utter lack and absence of academic licensure and Board certification from "other Veterans" occupying all crucial fact determination Boards and Commissions, instead of just treating us like regular regular medical patients in a regular hospital system, and giving us high level and certified Toxicologists like other patient groups. Have you ever heard of such nonsense in your life ?? Instead it's Joe Bravado and his chest full of war medals without a lick of medical academia anywhere in his resume and it is THIS that all other Veteran medical patients are STUCK with !! Go Figure !! The Fort McClellan Veterans are calling for a national email drive for H.R. 4259 authored by Congressman Brian Higgins of Buffalo, New York. The Bill has a good concept at large, but it needs fine tuning for sure. You can find the full text of the Bill by going to: http://www.house.gov and clicking on FIND A BILL and then enter in the right Bill ID "H.R. 4259" and it will come up on your screen. You can access Congressman Higgins email for your letter of support by selecting his name at the top of HOUSE.GOV and then select "Contact Brian". The Bill attempts to set up a permanent and forever Veterans Right To Know Commission which never expires in duration, although the name has absolutely nothing to do with it's function. In contrast, the function is to investigate all matters pertinent to chemical exposure cases involving military human testing of chemicals, including Project SHAD and other dubious efforts by the military in non-war scenarios. The Bill bunglingly sets up the Commission as a "lifetime appointment" to 10 members, all of who are to be "political party" appointees from Congress and the President and so on, and goes on to so incompetently and outrageously specify that "Veterans" are to be the Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission, as well as at least 2 Veterans are themselves to be mandated chemical testing victims under the existing Bill. YEAH RIGHT !!! It also has the flaming NERVE to go on and specifically prohibit anyone who is an employee of any state, local, or federal agency. THERE LIES THE PROBLEM !! What ass would NOT want the finest and most top quality licensed medical practitioners in the country sitting on a chemical exposure fact finding Commission, especially those from top agencies such as the Center For Disease Control, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Institute of Medicine ???? Can you say DUH, your honor ?? Talk about yer lost in space! If Congressman Brian Higgins had a brain then he'd be dangerous, because he is deliberately excluding the very thing that we WANT !! Earth calling Stupidville! We are asking all Veterans to send an email demanding an Amendment to H.R. 4259 as follows: We support the overall idea of a new chemical Commission but not the way it is specified in Commission members. (1) We insist that the Commission be exclusively membered by top quality, licensed and certified medical practitioners from the National Center for Toxicology, the Institute of Medicine, the Center for Disease Control, and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services and other entities of the like. (2) We insist that the Fort McClellan Veterans be added to the scope of authority and oversight for this new Commission. For those who don't know it, human testing was done at 3 Army bases up until 1973 involving small amounts of Sarin and VX gas at Edgewood Research lab at Aberdeen, MD; Fort McClellan, Alabama; and Dugout Proving Ground in Utah. We want to make dam straight sure that Edgewood is NOT the only base who walks away with the prizes from this Commission. We want the Army to speak on All 3 Exposure Groups If Congressman Higgins cannot find the bearings to impose these 2 Amendments, then we stand in OPPOSITION to the Bill H.R. 4259 because it will turn into yet another bungled, malpracticed, nut farm of a grandstanding circus the way that the VA Disability Commission is currently operated. Veterans Listen UP !! Sometimes nothing at all is BETTER than malpractice and incompetence and that is what these phoney baloney unqualified Vet commissions really are. End the human torture please and let's start getting licensed and QUALIFIED practitioners on these determination Commissions. Go to them in a public hearing and start talking to them about highly technical arguments and then stand back and watch the 9 Mile Stare fall over their stupid Vet faces while they sit there stuck-on-stupid never admitting that they are in over their combat heads!! Let's do it RIGHT and get REAL medical people on this thing once and for all, and to hell with what Congressman Higgins thinks on this point. Please join our email drive effort now to stop the malpractice madness and INSIST on top quality medical practitioners to sit on this new proposed Commission under H.R. 4259. Stop the death, stop the bureacracy, stop the public hearing circus, and let's get emergency response people in the middle of this thing.
