| Here are a few pix from yesterday's big event at the House Veterans Affairs Committee. The Senate Hearing is October 17th at the Dirksen Bldg. Please note that Senate chairman Daniel Akaka attended the full House Committee session yesterday and observed how happy and supportive the audience side of the Gallery was to these Commissioners, and we are hoping that visual impression left with him will carry over into the Senate review in a few days. There will be live video and audio coverage of the Senate hearings this Wednesday at 9:30am. What I cannot tell you is whether or not the VDBC Commission will be heard first or the Shalala-Dole Commission. The order of them appearing is not clear just yet. On the day of the hearing in the morning, do as follows: http://www.senate.gov select COMMITTEES on the top tab select and click on Veterans Committee on the Left Menu, select and click on HEARINGS scroll downward on the page and find UPCOMING HEARINGS select and click on VA and DOD review hearing at October 17, 9:30am On the Transcript Page on the day of the hearing, you will see a full list of the introductory speeches by the Senate members and the list of panelists to appear. At the TOP of that Transcript Page, there should be a LINK to click on to activate the video and audio for your Internet access.If you have any trouble connecting, call the Senate Committee at 202-224-9126. This should be straight forward for you and work just fine. Stay tuned here at VFJ for photos and reports when I get back later this week. UPDATE NOTE: THE HOUSE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITEE HAS NOW POSTED THE OPENING STATEMENTS OF THE CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS, AND THE COMPLETE AUDIO FILE OF THE HEARING ITSELF. http://www.house.gov Select the Veterans Affairs Comte. on the top tab. On the Veterans Home Page, click on October 10 on the calendar to the top right. Then click on the listing that appears at the top for the hearing. This will bring you into the TRANSCRIPT PAGE for the hearing. You can click on any statement by the congresssional members for reading, or click on the AUDIO COVERAGE file at the top right corner of the page. click on little ICON in the upper right corner of Photos below for full screen sized viewing which is the better quality way to see these.
