Letter Received From House Committee On Transition for Fort McClellan Veterans by McClellanVet (created on )Gallery | Comments

UPDATE NOTE: A meeting has been
scheduled in Washington during the
week of January 7, 2008 to discuss
the implementation of the VDBC
Commission recommendations for
the Fort McClellan Veterans.
This meeting will be attended by the
VA Secretary's very own personal
Liason. When I return back from that
trip, I am hoping to have other news
to report out on this evolving topic
of 2008.

Sue Frasier, founder
The Fort McClellan Veterans

The photo below is of a newly
received letter from the House
Veterans Affairs Committee, Chairman
Bob Filner in his first official comments
to us since the release of the
official VDBC Report in October.

The bookbound published version
is just now making it's way around
Capitol Hill so the delay on this
has been known to us all along
and has been understandable
as this proves we have been
steadily getting good information
from other sources.

While the photo below is not
very readable, I have put it up
in picture form so you can see the
legitimacy of it, just now received
today in the mail.

The text says as follows:

December 5, 2007

Dear Sue,

Thank you for contacting me regarding
the female veterans who served in
Ft. McClellan and the Veterans Disability
Benefits Commission recommendations.

The final report of the VDBC is not
due out until sometime after December 7,
2007. However, I have reviewed the
draft report and am aware of the
Commission's stance on the Ft. McClellan
issue. The Committee on Veterans
Affairs will consider the full Commission
report once it is complete and will
continue to review these recommendations
and those made by other Commissions
and Task Forces. Rest assured that as
Chairman of the House Committee on
Veterans Affairs, I will work to ensure
that whatever policies are implemented
do not promote disparity amongst the
Veterans.

Thank ou for expressing your concern
for this important issue and for
your service to this nation.

Sincerely,

Bob Filner, Chairman

it better than the smaller size that it
is. A 4 page fax reply has already been
submitted to this letter on accelleration
and we are anticipating other major
announcements some time in January.
