There is a classic saying or adage
that is out there that goes something like this: the definition of mental illness is one who continues to do the same acts of failure over and over again while expecting a completely different result each time. It's almost as if that cliche was made with our entire national Veterans arena in mind, and one has to look no further for a demonstration of that than the ineffective and bungled office of Senator Daniel Akaka as the Chairman of the Senate Veterans Committee. It's not exactly clear what it's going to take to get this moron out of his COMA!, but whatever it is, we need to find it fast before all of us Veterans are murdered by the VA and there is nobody left to kick his dumb and sorry ass into place. But for the sake of making a small demonstration to all the rest of you to show just how incredibly disconnected, misfired, off target, and off the wall even that Akaka's office is running at these days, I thought I would put together 2 different news stories below back to back so that you can see the shocking differences between Akaka's mental delusions and fixations, VERSES the reality of todays VA world. There is no comparison between the 2, and it is here that the daily lives of deprived Vet criminal victims by the VA agency all sits. I think it's safe to say that we can all start referring to Akaka as Chairman La-La Land after this. Whatever it is that he is smoking in between sessions, for sure it has no place in this national Veterans arena because it's the rest of us who are frying in hell at the expense of all his bungling and mismanagement of Senate issues at the Committee. In this first demonstration, here is one of Akaka's very own public releases which was sent out by his office to us activists by Email. First of all, since WHEN did a bunch of 20 year olds coming straight out of the military actually have a clue about what is or is not going on in this national VA arena, I would love to know?? Since when did newly arrived 20 year olds most with mental illness become the Experts in this arena to go around doling out Flattery Tickets to one of the most dysfunctional Senate Committees of our time? All of you should be asking yourselves that very question. It takes most of us a few years of working on the ground in Washington to know anything at all about CONTEXT of what the VA crisis really is and to fully comprehend which part is broken and which is not. And without that, how can any of them possibly know at all about who is or is not doing a good job on all of these issues? But here ya have it, old guy Daniel Akaka taking all of his flattery cues from a bunch of 20 year olds, complete with fried brains from multiple war tours from the Republicans, all issuing their annual bungled, misguided, off target flattery factory to Chairman La-La Land who just finished pissing away the entire last 2008 legislative session with a bunch of Bills that were NOT representing the real VA crisis at hand or even the priorities of URGENCIES faced by todays Veterans, both non-combat and combat. This is a stunning case where incompetent Veterans actually get in the way of on target work by Veterans who are in the know. The most illiterate and disconnected of our population rules everything while the hands-on population actually working the system is ignored and bypassed. In the second comparison piece for all of you to get a load of, there is the stunning, parallel, and simultaneous news event of the VARO Regional Director from VA New York City getting "reassigned" from her post, as we have all tried to get done for many many years now, and have relentlessly spoken on this very gripe directly into Akaka's office over the course of the past 2 years. This while Akaka himself, sat around in a delusional BUBBLE and FOG and did absolutely Zero, Zip, and nothing at all on the NYC situation and ensuing crisis in disability claims. With these 2 releases placed back to back in one common place right here at Vets For Justice, we make our glaring case of why Chairman La-La Land needs to go, and why it has become imperative to remove his dumb and sorry self from the Senate Veterans Affairs Comte. _________________________________________ AKAKA's Own Misfire of a Release Right during the time that VARO Director was being FIRED by VA. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 8, 2008 “A+” FOR AKAKA ON IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN VETERANS’ ISSUES Senate Committee Chairman receives perfect voting score from non-partisan Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Action Fund WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI), Chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, received an “A+” from the non-partisan Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) Action Fund for his leadership and voting record on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans’ issues. Akaka received 9 out of 9 possible points for voting, plus two additional points for his co-sponsorship of the 21st Century GI Bill of Rights. “I am humbled and gratified to be recognized by the newest generation of American veterans,” said Akaka. “I am proud of what we were able to accomplish this Congress for the veterans of the current conflicts, and for those who served in previous eras. I look forward to doing even more in the coming years.” Prior to assuming the Chairmanship of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Akaka was the top ranking Democrat on the Committee from 2004 to 2006. He served during World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers, and attended college on the original GI Bill of Rights. The IAVA Report card is available at http://www.veteranreportcard.org/. -END- _____________________________________ End of Akaka's Psychotic Episode on Paper ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Second Comparison Article taking place right while Akaka is Piddling and Diddling with his bullshit A+ headline from Iraq Vets. VA removes leaders of New York regional office BY MARTIN C. EVANS | martin.evans@newsday.com November 23, 2008 The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has reassigned the director of its New York regional office after finding that employees there misdated hundreds of claims to make it appear they were being processed on time. Without referring by name to the New York director, Patricia Amberg-Blyskal, VA spokeswoman Alison Aikele said last week that the director and five other top managers were ousted after investigators discovered a pattern of deception in the handling of claims at the regional headquarters at 245 W. Houston St. in Manhattan. "It was systematically enough of a problem that we removed the leadership," Aikele said. The shake-up at the New York regional office, which serves 800,000 vets living in eastern New York State, came as veterans organizations and members of Congress have criticized the federal agency for mishandling, losing or destroying the benefits claims of veterans. "The reports of date changing and document shredding at the N.Y. regional VA office are unacceptable and insulting to those who served our country," said Rep. Steve Israel (D-Dix Hills) in a prepared statement. A summary of an investigation by the VA obtained by Newsday showed that of 20 claims examined by VA investigators at the New York office during a July visit, 16 had been marked with apparently phony dates to suggest their processing had begun within the required seven days of their arrival. A wider audit in August showed that 56.4 percent of claims carried incorrect intake dates, according to the summary, which was dated Nov. 10. According to the summary, several employees told VA investigators that their supervisor had instructed them to enter incorrect dates, and that the practice was widely known. VA investigators also found that the New York office has ignored "significant amounts" of its mail, officials said. An Oct. 6 visit by investigators, for example, turned up 700 pieces of mail that had not been acted upon. Aikele also said investigators recovered at least five documents related to claims that had been improperly placed in shredder bins. On Friday, Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) wrote to Veterans Affairs Secretary James Peak, asking to be apprised of the situation in the New York Regional Office. Amberg-Blyskal did not reply to a reporter's requests for an interview. The summary said "the director and assistant director were initially placed on administrative leave but now have been detailed to other work sites to complete assigned projects." Four other managers were placed on administrative leave, according to the summary. Last week, two veterans organizations filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C., seeking to force the VA to handle benefits claims more quickly, saying veterans often wait a year before their applications are processed, and as long as four years for appeals. _____________________________________ End of NewsDay.com Release I rest my case everybody.
