If there was ever a telling story to
show the mental illness vacuum that exists on the House Veterans Affairs Committee between reality and delusion when it comes to pressing and scandalous VA issues, then look no further than how this entire Shredder-Gate scandal unfolds and what the men-brains all have to say about it. Using cut and paste transfer, here is what Brain-Dead Steve Buyer, the Minority seat on the Committee has to say at the Committees official website keeping in mind that Brian Lawrence his press man, is himself a former DAV claims rep. There is nothing very "impartial" to be found here so don't bother looking for it: Buyer: VA Shredding Unacceptable For more information, contact: Brian Lawrence, (202) 225-3527 Washington, D.C. – Ranking Republican Member Steve Buyer (R-Ind.) made the following statement after the conclusion of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Full Committee Roundtable entitled “CRISIS: The VA Shreds Veterans’ Confidence”: “Although I was unable to attend the discussion because of House Republican leadership elections, I believe that the roundtable was a useful step in what is going to be a long process. Many veterans have lost confidence in VA due to the disclosure of the shredding incident. I applaud the Under Secretary for Benefits, Patrick Dunne, for his acknowledgement of this lack of trust in the system and his willingness to work with veteran service organizations and Congress to correct the mistakes. The current situation is clearly unacceptable. I am encouraged that several of the solutions and suggestions that were mentioned by roundtable participants were included in The Veterans’ Improvement Act of 2008, P.L. 110-389, which was signed by President Bush on October 10, 2008. These provisions include: - A review and reformulation of VA’s work credit system (Sec. 226) - An independent audit of VA’s training and quality assurance programs (Sec. 224) - A new rules based adjudication system that is completely paperless. (Sec. 227) This legislation was thoughtfully drafted by members of both parties and if VA properly implements this new law many of the problems raised during today’s discussion could be avoided in the future. There is an ongoing investigation of this incident by the Office of the Inspector General and when it is completed the Committee should look at this matter again early in the next Congress.” ______________________________________ END of Buyer Release Well first of all Steve, your brain dead committee did not listen to me and my year long advocacy into your offices where I repeatedly said that our cases were being falsified here in New York at the hands of Joseph Collorafi. Secondly Steve, there was ZERO legislation in this 2008 session that had any knowledge of Shredder-Gate because you were all too busy ignoring what we were all telling you about the matter. So where exactly is your rationale that somehow your legislation packages addresses even one little SPECK of what has happened in Shredder-Gate? I would just love to know the answer to this question. Also Steve, your sham hearing today went straight downhill in the very first few minutes when your LunkHeaded Roundtable decided that Shredder-Gate was all about the VA and not the Veterans who are the crime victims in the matter. Every crisis, you see Steve, boils down "Oh Poor VA! How can we give them the resources they need?" instead of: "Oh poor Veterans. How can we rescue their claims cases and make this up to them?" Ya see Steve, your man-brain is simply NOT in the right place. It never has been. And who are these jackass people who keep voting you back into office? But at least for now, America got wise and made a statement to Republicans everywhere and this can only be a good thing. So Steve, did ya hear us all clicking away at the voting booths across America? Did ya see all the seats lost in Congress and that great national sucking sound as all the Republican chairs were lost on Capitol Hill. That was all of us sending you a message Steve. You had better grow a brain and start kicking this VA agency in the ass and stop being it's shoe-shine boy. You are clearly off track and need some mental counselling and connecting the dots between Veteran crime victims and how to fix the VA is simply NOT your forte. So I offer up this moronic display of disconnect and empty hot air that the Veterans of Shredder-Gate have now received from Rep. Steve Buyer, and let this be one more notch on the gunstock that shows exactly what the problem is at the House Veterans Affairs Committee as we all go chugging in to a new legislative season in January. Hey Buyer, Get A Clue !!! SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE: Buyer also posted this other second release after todays hearing which was webcasted. Hey Steve, It is NOT about the VA --- it is about the Veterans who are Crime Victims just in case ya didn't get that !!! Full Committee Roundtable -- “CRISIS: The VA Shreds Veterans’ Confidence” Statement of the Honorable Steve Buyer Ranking Republican Member House Committee on Veterans' Affairs For more information, contact: Brian Lawrence, (202) 225-3527 The revelation by the Office of the Inspector General that important veterans’ claims documents were found in shredding bins in 72% of VA regional offices is stunning and deeply troubling. The VA’s disability benefits system, which was already in critical condition due to its inability to process claims within a time period that’s reasonable and fair to veterans, now has another embarrassing situation to deal with. It is all the more frustrating when it is obvious that a paperless electronic claims system for veterans would alleviate so many problems, including this one. But the Veterans Benefits Administration has dragged its feet for years in developing this new system. I am aware that Secretary Peake is now moving VA in that direction as quickly as possible, but I hope that this latest problem has convinced every manager from the top down, that this transition to an electronic system needs to happen post-haste. When I first heard of the problem, I was encouraged that an immediate Inspector General investigation of this issue was underway to find out exactly how this has happened and to establish accountability. This Committee’s oversight of the issue is of no less importance, and I wish that Chairman Filner had decided to re-schedule this discussion to November 18, 2008, as I requested last week, because many members, myself included, must attend leadership elections today. I look forward to Chairman Filner scheduling a full Committee hearing after the Inspector General has completed his investigation. _________________________________________ END of Buyers 2nd Release Sue Frasier, VEV 1970 Army Signal Corps national activist/protester staff Blogger, VFJ |
