Rep. Steve Buyer is the former
Republican Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. Rep. Bob Filner is now the new Democrat Chairman, and both the Minority and Majority chairs have to work together in these sessions. Having attended the VDBC Commission hearing at the House and seen both of them in action right in the room, I can tell you that Buyer is by far the guy with more spirit and personality. He is outgoing and charismatic and if he wasn't such a LunkHead on issues, then he would actually be the guy that all Veterans would like to go to. Bob Filner is dry, Parrot-Headed, caught up in Blowhard, doesn't want to hear from the Stakeholders on Oppositions, and in the end, he falls flat in procedings and doesn't come across as the kind of guy who really "gets it" about what is going on at the VA. Buyer, on the other hand, was lead guy since the year 2003 when I first came into the Fort McClellan advocacy issue, so I have a little accumulated experience with this House Committee under him extended over a period of time. Steve Buyers office and Steve Buyer's people have been told directly one million times the simple explanation of what is causing the VA backlog crisis. The VA Raters are not required to be medical practitioners themselves, and are then allowed to "rewrite" or "falsify" the findings of other practitioner documents submitted by the Veterans as evidence. It is a relentless wheel-spinning GAME of evidence out here that the VA Raters simply refuse to shut up and sit down on what it is that the Veterans submit. I have yet to send in a single claim with all of the evidence papers tied to that part of the claim, and then have each and every evidence paper come back to me, spoken on truthfully and accurately without it NOT being rewritten into something else that is not even true. At times it seems that the VA Raters are even arguing with me whether or not I even served in the Army. We have told Buyer one million times that this very process of "rewriting" teeters on Identity Theft from the Veteran. It is intended to rewrite their entire lifetime over and then deny the claim based on their own rewriting of falsities. We have contended this is NOT a "training" issue, but a conspiracy scheme, willfully designed, deliberate, and without error --- an organized crime scheme of falsified documents. Buyer, on the other hand, has gone around telling everyone in Washington that the VA Rater crisis is a "training" issue. This was very much in the wind BEFORE the Veterans Disability Benefits Commission came into authority. The truth is, Steve Buyer is either suffering from a mental problem OR is in political denial to get the blame off his own back that the VA Raters really ARE involved in a deliberate scheme. Recently DAV testified before the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee regarding the operations of the Court of Veterans Appeals like this: In 1990, the number of cases denied was 62%. In 1992, the number of cases denied was 33%. In 2007, the number of cases denied was 21%. Unfortunately DAV used this numerical profile to legitamize, validate, and put nails into the coffin of allowing the VA to continue "litigating" the disability claims of medical patients. This was a serious bungle and NOT in the best interest of Veterans. I will now be taking this numerical profile and sticking it back in their faces to show that there is still a backlog not yet seen both at VARO and BVA by the Court, and in those cases (including my own) lies a much higher denial rate, and that even with the profile that DAV has issued right now, there is STILL a 21% document falsification rate coming out of these 2 lower operations. The question also becomes why oh why is the VA Office of General Counsel (who staffs and oversees the BVA Judges), allowed to operate so corruptly and incompetently ?? The whole time they were doing this at the VA addresses, Steve Buyer and his Parrot-Head Squad at the House Committee was going around and telling all of Washington and posting on the official Committee website about how WONDERFUL a job the VA was doing on it's claims backlog. Yeah Right, you LunkHead !! While they never would issue the priority to relieve the backlog PRIOR to the Iraq War, now that the numbers of the backlog are rapidly approaching nearly 1 million of us, now they all want to pull this CHARADE that the backlog is caused by the Iraq War. Well Mr. Buyer......NO it ISN'T !! It has always been there from day one. It is YOU Mr. Buyer, who has had his denial head stuck in the sand and refusing to probe, investigate, and prosecute this matter the way it really should be done. The recent broadcast of the CNN report Waging War On The VA has validated all we have said about the willful deliberateness of the VA Raters falsifying disability ruling documents. 2 of the 3 Veterans profiled in that CNN report verified once and for all exactly what we have been saying on this point. And the recent numerical profile issued by DAV to the Senate, also backs up what we have said on this. What are bunch of licensed lawyer judges sitting at the BVA level doing exactly to crank out a 63% DENIAL rate of claims when they first started out ?? And why does Steve Buyer refuse to get into their faces and ask this question? Veterans who have their cases falsified into something else, not said by any military or VA doctor, is a hate-crime and Veterans who get that in the mail will APPEAL it for entire lifetimes until it's right. It seems to me, that is exactly what we are all doing out here. Wake up Steve Buyer --- either go to counselling for your mental problem, or get a law book and start calling this national VA crisis what it really is.
