No you are not mistaken, you are
in the right place for sure. State Congresswoman Jennifer Carroll gets our pick for this months supporter of Veterans. Yes, you absolutely DID see my photo with her under the Forum titled Veterans Disability Commission elsewhere on this Vets For Justice FORUM chat room. She was one of the former sitting Commissioners, and now I'm about to tell you the rest of what she does. Jennifer is currently holding elected office as the Representative for Jacksonville Florida for the Florida State Legislature. I consider her a good social acquaintance and working friend in the Veterans arena, and after sitting in the room with her in our respective roles for 2 straight years at the VDBC Commission hearings, I can tell you that she is a wonderful supporter of Veterans and is very, very much in touch with our issues. She is a Reppublican, and I was hard pressed to find any other bad thing about her. She is a wonderful person to know and a Navy Lt. Commander retired too. Jennifer has more brains in her little finger than many Veterans have as an entire group. That says it all and I don't have to add much more to that. Veterans do have a friend in Jennifer, as you long as you treat her nice and not tie up her time with a bunch of nonsense. She is a state authority and not a federal authority, now that the VDBC Commission has dismantled. Florida Veterans would do well to connect with her on important state issues and to keep an eye on her if she decides to make a federal run for Washington. I think Washington could use another Condoleeza Rice, and Jennifer Carroll is without hesitation, in that same league of up and coming prominent and esteemed Black candidates and appointees who are making their mark in todays America. It's not easy to be a high profile elected state official in the legislature, and then turn around and have to sit in the faces of angry Veterans. She did it, and she did it with class. She was very outreaching to Veterans trying to get them all to come forward at the VDBC Site Visit in Boston. Taking extra minutes in her opening statement, she talked to everyone in the room told all of them to come forward to say what they wanted to say. Jennifer sits on 4 committees at the Florida Legislature: Financial Institutions, Healthy Families, Homeland Security, and Jobs/Entrepeneurship. This gives Activist Veterans a guideline checklist to match against before starting out on your trip to visit her. She knows all about the VA, so ya don't have to start from the beginning. She was a party to all 114 recommendations of the VDBC Commission, and she heard it all from those of us who appeared as Protesters during the many many Public Comment periods that we advocated in (me too). Salutes and a Vets For Justice bear hug to State Representative Jennifer Carroll from Florida. She spoke well for us and delivered a BOFFO national report to Congress that will make every Veteran in the nation proud to Go Navy !! Here is her LINK: http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/representatives/...id=4331&sessionid=57 VFJ members, DO build a good relationship with her and plan for her to be a long term contact for you to go back to on many issues and not just one issue.
