Well this entry is sure to raise
some howls but I will set this
up to speak on both sides of the
controversy here.

Tammy Duckworth, first and foremost,
is a war hero of the Iraq War. Her
helicopter was shot out from under
her, and she lost both legs coming
down. Let's get that fact up there
front and center.

During her recovery at Walter Reed,
she also made the decision to run
for Congress. Well, we all do strange
things in a moment of trauma, now
don't we. She failed on that bid,
but she is now the Director of the
State of Illinois Veterans Agency.

This counts too. I am including the
official LINK below for those who
need a little convincing and would
like to see the effort which is
coming out of that office for todays
troops.

She also appeared in the CNN investigative
report, also posted up in our Human
Torture Forum with Ty Ziegle and Garrett
Anderson, called War Against The VA.
I thought she did a good job in
speaking on the system, although her
profile was a departure from the other
interviewees.

She cares about the cause, and
does do a good job in her job
in spite of what she has been
through and is herself facing
a new life under a new definition
like so many of the rest of us.
What's not to like ??

Well, there is that OTHER crowd
who will be glad to remind us.
She does not comprehend national
security issues, and apparently
during her election campaign
she stepped on the hot button issue
of amnesty for illegal immigrants
and that may well have been her
undoing with our constituency right
there.

I have also included THAT LINK too
so the other side will have a voice
on what went wrong, and good God,
if this is the worst the woman
does for the rest of her life, then
I think we can line up and forgive
her!!

Honorable Tammy enters our Hall of
Salutes for her service to her country,
and for having the courage to move
forward in an altered life of
difficulties and being a great
national role model for all other
wounded troops to follow. We wish
her much success in her new career,
and hope she can find a way to
continue doing the things she
loves and raising a family. We
are delighted to pass the torch
to her new generation, and what
a great one it truly is.

Be careful with that torch, Tammy,
it's our legacy.
