The grand social experiment of
the world has failed and the United Nations may be flirting with self-imposed doom. With each new war of each new generation, more and more truth about the government and war itself posing the national question of whether or not war is even an option in the U.S. future, and if that is so, how will we contain and control international conflicts of the future? The U.N. and NATO, perhaps one too many times, has dragged this United States into war in places where no war can be won, or at least, in the true sense of winning and leaving. War has come to be a falsified excuse for "nation-building" and that is a w-h-o-l-e other matter, y'all. The international laws are set up so that the winner of a declared war, must then rebuild that nation to compensate for the wrath of battle that was left behind. Since people with law degrees apparently have no brains, or loyalties to this country either, one does not have to stretch the imagination very far to figure out the true motives behind we are relentlessly led into war as the final solution to all threats worldwide. If a war is declared and supported, no matter under what circumstances, then nation-building of the defeated country becomes the result of that situation. What would happen if war itself no longer became an option for the U.S. and even perhaps, what would happen if we dropped out of the U.N. altogether?? The only "costing" that ever gets done with war is the costs associated with the supplies, equipment, and personell, but as a war is set into motion, the mission creep of reality that begins to set in with the public and beancounters is the staggering costs of VA disability and lifetime support for those who suffer the ultimate hazards of war. We are nearing a time in our country when the true costs of war is not that which is put out by the Department of No-Defense exclusively, but also in tandem with the Department of the No-Veterans Affairs and the No-Social Security Administration. It is these costing numbers that sets reevaluation into motion, and it is here that the U.N. and NATO becomes Lost In Space. When war shares the same airspace as national disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the road to reality-checks is no longer paved with yellow bricks and the howling from Congress is sure to ensue. Speed up the presses, I say, after all the money is printed, isn't it ?? But as this administration and this U.N. now teeters on the brink of international bankruptcy for all who is involved, it's hard for all of us chickens to grasp that we may actually be looking at a time in U.S. history where war has priced itself out of existance. My, My, What A Thought !!! We can't have Public Health or Public Safety because of the beancounters, but we can have war for nation-building?? I don't think so !! But wait a minute, they have made a complete MESS of national defense and how do we reorganize the system to reflect our newfound position of isolationism? What used to be the National Guard is now the InterNational Guard. D-U-H !!! Homeland Security has taken us into places where we don't want to go. And why is the military protecting Penn Station in New York City instead of the NYPD ?? We have too many people who are entering Congress who are themsleves NOT military veterans and are dumber than a doornail about how to lead the country on national security matters. We may also be entering a time where certain Congressional Committees are only and exclusively reserved for the sitting of military veterans. This means we may actually see a day when Congressional seats are "rationed" of sorts to 2 categories of election candidates: one civilian category, and one veteran category. When too many of one category gets full on the seats, candidates can only run in the other category and that kind of thing. What would happen if the U.N. were to close shop and relocate to Geneva and leave the U.S. behind. I say, "Pass the beer please, it's time to celebrate"! Every beancounters nightmare has come true and it will hereafter be interesting to see how they dig themselves out of this mess. Whatever happens, we all have to make sure that nation-building is the sacrificial lamb and not the Veterans. //////////////////////////// Sue Frasier, VEV 1970 Army Signal Corps national activist/protester staff Blogger, VFJ |
