Senator Patty Murray of Washington
state has emerged as the first
woman on the Senate Veterans Affairs
Committee and came from a school
teaching background. Not really
a political type to begin with,
she started small and moved to
the Senators position rather quickly.

Having attended the Senate Committee's
review hearing of the VDBC Commission
report, and then followed since
on her weekly video series which
almost always includes a segment
of interest to Veterans, Senator
Murray enters our Hall of Salutes
here at Vets For Justice as somebody
who is genuinely working for the
interests of Veterans and taking
her job on the Senate Committee
very seriously.

Her official website runs a weekly
video series Wednesdays With Murray,
and you can tell a lot about these
2 minute soundbites that she really
does grasp the issues of the day
and knows how to talk in a way
that is interesting to Veterans.

She has also set up an outreach
LINK behind the yellow ribbon icon
on her website for support services
to modern day troops.

When she's ON in her official
role, she is a non-nonsense probing
legislator who knows how to ask
the tough questions and to confront
the charades of an Administration
who likes to hide behind so many.

She is at the forefront in press
coverage just as soon as breaking
news hits the Associated Press and
never shy about her reaction to
spontaneous issues hitting the fan.

While she is pro-Veteran, she is
not a fool or a pushover either.
She carries her own bag of insight
and can easily determine whether
or not Veterans really are getting
screwed or are just overeacting to
rumors.

Veterans like her style and approach
to things, and she doesn't spend
her time on a lot of hot air
issues or grandstanding moments
that leads to nowhere. When she
talks, it's because she has something
meaningful to say.

We need about 50 more Patty Murrays
throughout the Senate and the House
to rescue the many crisis that
has us all under seige, either at
the VA or DOD.

It's very hard for civilians to sit
in this crucial oversight role of
micro-managing the complexities and
schemes of the VA, but Senator Murray
is one of the best at what she does.

We applaud Senator Murray and look
to her with waiting eyes to help
us out of the great national VA
crisis which has us all by the throat.
