I am recent veteran from the USAF that got separation pay via VSP. When I received my rating I was notified that Uncle Sam wants his money back. How are the two even related? What does a members right to pursue and get VA monetary benefits have to due with the governments choice to implement the VSP program?? I had no idea it was a loan. The idea of punishing a member for pursuing VA benefits is bad form.

Shame on you VA!!!! I will writing to my congress reps on this one. Any ideas on how to combat this forum?

VSP was part of the USAF force shaping program last year. They offered what was basically a severance for junior military officer's whose career fields were over manned. What they failed to explain is that if you pursued a VA disability rating that resulted in $$$, Uncle Sam was taking his money back. So, it would be like a company giving you a X-mas bonus, then asking for that bonus back if you filed a work comp claim. Just a slimey, and I wondering if illegal, way to get their money bank.

Thanks for information Gunny and to the person above.
