When you are receiving on SSD only
half of what you are supposed to
be receiving on VA Comp & Pen,
life is tough and don't we all
know it having been there at least
once in our lifetimes, and for
some, even many times. It's hard
out here being a Vet, let's face it,
and the VA doesn't care. At the
VA.....it's all about THEM !!!

For those who are desperately holding
on until they can cross the great
financial divide, I say to you be
sure to not overlook the Dollar
Menu at McDonald's if you happen
to have access to one.

The big problem here is trying to
overpower your growling stomach
as you look at the overwhelming
signs for the big quarter pounder
stuff, as you force your mouth
to order the Weenie stuff for
your bag to take home.

You can make smart and filling
choices for yourself at the Dollar
Menu and it doesn't taste half
bad either. And if it's down
to either eating Mickey-Dee's or
something worse, I say head for
Golden Arches boys and enjoy !!

Avoid the hamburgers if you can.
If you are older now, it's a heart
attack on a plate even with a
lettuce and tomato plunked under
it. Young people, of you also smoke
cigarettes then the fat from the
hamburgers will make you old
before your time. Let's keep it
smart.

Start with one or two alternating
choices and then build on that.
The chicken Snack Wrap is outstanding
and deceivingly filling. At a $1.29,
you can either order 2 of those,
or 1 of those along with something
else. My first choice is the $1.00
side salad. Snack Wrap and salad
is plenty to hold you for at least
6 hours. French fries are less of
a desireable choice until McDonalds
joins the anti-transfat crowd
of restaurants, but Hey if you are
hungry, it's a choice.

Normally it is cheaper if you
can purchase a single bottle of
soda or container of milk at
your local convenient store on
the way home. But that too is
$1.00 for a small soda if it
turns out to be your second choice
with a Snack Wrap.

The McDonalds apple pies are 2
for $1.00 and you can hold those
in your refrigerator for breakfast
with your coffee or to take care
of the late night belly growls.

Let's hope that the VA comes to
their senses soon and please know
that Vets For Justice is doing their
part in Washington.
